WORLD APOSTOLATE OF FATIMA
DIOCESAN REPORT
The World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF) in
Enugu Diocese is very active in Parishes, Chaplaincies, Deaneries and equally
on the Diocesan level. We hold our general meeting on 2nd Saturday
bi-monthly.
Our members in their respective parishes
and Chaplaincies hold their Cell Hour of Holiness every week. They also observe
the 1st Friday vigil and 1st Saturday devotion. New Cells
have been created in parishes like Assumption parish, Nkwo-Nike, St. Theresa’s
parish, Idaw River Phase II, Virgo Potens Parish, Awkunanaw and Seat of Wisdom
Parish, Housing Estate.
We
had our End of Year Annual Retreat last year at Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu.
The programme featured Rosary Procession, Talks and Holy Mass.
The 3rd Onitsha Ecclesiastical
Provincial Leadership Training and Centenary celebration was hosted by Enugu
Diocese on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th
April, 2017 with about seven (7) dioceses in attendance at the College of the
Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu. The training featured Holy Mass, Rosary Procession,
Spiritual Talks/Teachings and other activities. The National Coordinator,
Children of the Eucharist, Sr. Eugenia Iloanusi was the special guest of
honour.
Enugu
Diocese was not left behind in the Centenary celebration of the Apparitions of
Our Lady of Fatima with lined-up programmes. The programmes include Rosary
procession in all parishes every Saturday, parish/family consecration to the
Immaculate Heart of Mary, visitation of the Pilgrim Virgin statue to parishes
and deaneries etc. We marked the 13th May Congress and it featured
Holy Mass, Rosary Procession, Spiritual Talks and other activities. The
Diocesan Congress, which is the grand-finale of the celebration, was held on
Friday 14th and Saturday 15th July, 2017 at the
cathedral. It featured Rosary Procession, Talk on Marian Devotion, Mass by the Bishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus V. C.
Onaga, the Crowning of the statue and consecration of the diocese to the
Immaculate Heart of Mary and other
social activities.
The
feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel was held on Saturday 15th and Sunday
16th July, 2017 at St. Mary’s Parish Uwani. The 9-day Novena was observed as
usual. The feast featured all-night vigil, Holy Mass, Spiritual Talks
especially on First Saturday devotion, Quiz, Scapular Enrollment, cutting of
cake and other activities.
CONCLUSION/APPRECIATION
We commend the support of our Bishop. We wish to express
our hearfelt gratitude and appreciation to our Chaplain for all his efforts to
see to the progress of the Apostolate and especially for his resolve to help us
achieve our set goals. We also thank our Patrons and Patroness for their moral
and financial support.
